The Coalesce Adult Day Center utilizes the individual’s wellness as an imperative aspect of the design solution, taking into account the social, cognitive, and physical needs of every individual in order to provide the most suitable environment for its users. Design considerations create an inclusive design that places both its users and the environment as a top priority. The local Houston evening skyline influenced a color pallet ranging from deep teal to a golden yellow, as seen through the wide range of finishes within the space. Various patterns and textures aid in a visually stimulating environment. Each individual within the Day Center is provided with the safety and confidence needed go about their daily lives. The Coalesce Adult Day Center combines social interactions, cognitive development, and physical therapy in order to create a home away from home.

The purpose of our research project was to better understand the overall awareness of gender inequity and the perceived societal importance of this issue, specifically within athletic environments. The subject of gender inequality as it is related to the built environment has a varying level of awareness and general aptitude in design based solutions. The intent of the research process is to understand and address the longstanding issue of gender inequity within athletics, and to gain a better understanding of societal perceptions of the existence and importance of gender equity as related to athletics and design. Through extensive compiled and applied research methods, the overall awareness of gender inequity within the built environment and the perceived societal importance of the issue is examined and explored.
